Somewhere in the beginning of my review of Torche’s last behemoth (Which you can conveniently read here!), I mentioned something along the lines of wanting to write a review on the title track by itself because it was that good. Well, it seems that the quartet from Miami, Florida have topped themselves yet again and yet again I will refrain from writing a whole piece about how much of a killer track “Admission” is. Even though it’s that awesome. And is totally deserving of a separate post just to talk about that fact. But there are other awesome tracks within to discuss…

Not a hoax! Not a ploy! Not a gimmick! Sort of! Regardless, you read that right! What we have for you today is a five track review of the upcoming Wear Your Wounds album because a) We wanted to get something out before it drops on Friday through Deathwish Inc b) You don’t need to read about us waxing poetic on this entire beautiful beast and c) Frankly, we thought it was a neat idea.

If you go to the movies a lot like me, chances are you’ve seen the trailer for the latest female assassin Luc Besson flick, Anna, and heard that bouncy, fabulous music while the title card plays after Sasha Luss has dispensed with some baddies during the tease. However, chances are that you didn’t know who was providing the soundtrack for that brief teaser. Until now! And if you read our header (Or googled “Who does the music in the Anna (2019) trailer) you know it’s Bones UK who will deliver that song (“Pretty Waste”) alongside 11 more of your new favorite jams when their debut lands on July 12th via Sumerian Records.

3TEETH has gradually grown into this Industrial behemoth. They were heralded as the second coming and championed by Tool AND actually lived up to the hype for a while but, if I’m being honest, their last album did not impress as a whole. METAWAR looks to course correct with this super lean, super killer slab of Industrial NOISE that’s easily the frontrunner for album of the year within that genre. And beyond.

“I wanted to do something big. When I saw how tall Dan (Milligan) is, I knew it was the right project for me. Also I hate Joy.” – Marcus Eliopulos

I’m not going to lie: it’s weird to hear Jaz Coleman’s uncanny maw front any band other than Killing Joke. However, Roma’s Deflore do a solid job of backing the iconic vocalist and even give Geordie’s usual wall of guitars a run for their money. And at the end of the day I’ll gladly take any new recorded material from Coleman over none.

Trevor Dunn and Dale Crover are two names that, if you follow avant-garde, indie, or underground types of music, should be familiar to you already. Separately they’ve provided the building blocks for a lot of those aforementioned genres through their work with Nirvana, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, and Melvins (in which the two managed to intersect) to name a few. Together they are the rhythm section of Low Flying Hawks who inadvertently continue that forward trend to push the boundaries of desert rawk and psychedelia alongside multi-instrumentalists and songwriters AAL and EHA once again.

Say what you will about streaming services but Spotify, in particular, has introduced me to some of my (now) most favorite artists including Turkey’s She Past Away who is back with their first album in four years, Disko Anksiyete.

There are bands out there today in 2019 that not only survived the Nu-Metal revolution but are still active and thriving. One such band is (Hed) P.E. who has constantly been contributing to the post-Nu Metal world with a consistent string of under the radar bangers. When Linkin Park was destroying with their sophomore triumph Meteora in 2003, (Hed) was subtly slaughtering with Blackout (This album is still a killer so get on that shit if you haven’t already). When the godfathers of Nu-Metal, Korn, unsuccessfully tried to return to their roots with 2010’s Remember Who You Are, (Hed) was keeping the torch lit with Truth Rising. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg in terms of (Hed) persevering.
