I think I’ve said this before in these pages but just to reiterate: live albums can be hit or miss. On the one hand you have a record that perfectly catches the vibe of seeing your favorite band on stage with that right amount of audience participation and sound whereas on the other hand, there’s the albums that capture none of that with a tinny sound that doesn’t do the band justice at all. And unfortunately the latter is what the newly resurrected Entombed find themselves with when it comes to Clandestine Live.

The only thing cooler than living in a world where Whitesnake is still alive and kickin’ is that they’re relevantly alive and kickin’! With the long awaited Flesh & Blood record, Whitesnake’s 13th full-length, the band sound reinvigorated with a collection of songs that sounds just as vital as anything in their illustrious discography.

On first listen, Doomstress brings the feels of local Doom purveyors Second Grave (RIP but you can check out new offshoot Benthic Realm, featuring SG vocalist Krista Van Guilder, here) and modern Ghost. Meaning you get bravado alongside the Black Sabbath. Comparisons aside, Doomstress simply rawk.

It’s weird because when I was growing up and Biohazard was in their prime, I could care less. But as I get older I find myself leaning to the heaver side of things and revisiting lots of missed gems from back in the (Read: my) day. And lucky for me, and you, that artists like Biohazard’s Billy Graziadei are still out there making music just as visceral and enticing as they did back then.

I’m a sucker for new We Are Scientists tunes so the announcement that their most recent album (Which we reviewed here) has a deluxe edition with an album’s worth of bonus material included has the RNRF offices pretty frickin’ giddy to say the least. Comprised of five demos, a remix, four acoustic tracks, and three brand new tunes, Megaplex: Rise of the Lycans easily comes off as the victory lap that Megaplex rightly deserves.

Jenn Vix is making the kind of Electro music you need to hear. Like a mix of The B-52’s in their early years and Gary Numan circa The Pleasure Principle with hints of the Eurythmics thrown in for good measure, 6 is a veritable melting pot of awesome electronic sounds presented in a new way.

We called All Your Sisters’ last record Uncomfortable Skin “an instant gothic masterpiece” (Read more here) and listening through their upcoming full-length, mastermind Jordan Morrison is doing little to dissuade that they’ve done it again. And might we add that, if possible, they’ve gone bleaker and gothier? Is that a term? Howzabout “none more goth” then?
