DnA’s Evolution Get Crafty And Creative On Expansive Third LP Curious of Nothing

We’re big fans of fuzzy Rawk at the RNRF offices especially when done well and ESPECIALLY if it happens to be both (Done well + Fuzzy Rawk). Massachusetts’ DnA’s Evolution ticks off both those boxes on the regular and do it gloriously on their latest full-length, Curious of Nothing, which boasts not only a plethora of styles ranging from Alternative to old school Psych Rawk throughout the album but sometimes an exploration of styles within each song!

Curious of Nothing is the name and carefully concocted sonic soliloquies by the MA dynamic duo of Adam Cardoza (Lead Vox, Drums, Percussion) and Derek Reckard (Guitars, Bass, Synth, Backing Vox) is the game for the third LP from DnA’s Evolution! “Curioso/The Dragons Horde The Night” is a mover and a shaker and a song fittingly fueled by bombast in every department to start off Curious... with Cardoza’s vocals practically exploding out of your preferred listening device. “Robots” is reminiscent of Wall Of Voodoo’s brand of timeless Synth-saturated Alternative and if you know us at all then you know what a WOV comparison means here while “Sequel” continues along that line but dives headfirst into the ’50’s and ’60’s with shimmering Reckard riffs and a mix of haunting vocal lines and spoken word passages that bring to mind The Zombies.

The gargantuan “Take Me Up” is a Grunge dirge akin to Alice In Chains’ “Again” or Mad Season’s “I Don’t Know Anything” with Cardoza’s lush falsetto standing out as the song ventures off the beaten path for a trippy excursion into The Doors-style psychedelia and old Black Sabbath mysticism (Think “Orchid” or “Solitude”) before finding its’ way back to the Rawk! “Home” is a Reckard-heavy riff-tival (Riff + Festival, get it???), “Til I Break It” brings out the Blues and the grooves for this slick ditty, and “Enigma” is an all out jam with Cardoza steadily slamming the sticks while delivering smooth vocal lines as Reckard sneaks in with some slick solos.

“Welcome to the Bad Future” is a nice modern Alternative anthem and sure to be a live highlight and “Blue” basks in its’ extended runtime with almost eight minutes of unfiltered instrumental Alternative fuzz caught on tape which even dips its’ toes into Desert Rawk territory for a spell until “Los Dragones” comes correct with the proper comedown to close out Curious of Nothing.
