The World Over is indescribably great. On Mountains, their latest release, they have crafted something that takes the brutality of Rampart District and injected it with infectious melodies which, in turn, evolves their sound tenfold. [Read more…]

Welcome Back OSLO, You’ve Been Missed!
OSLO was an anomaly even when they first hit the scene with their debut in 2005. Combining glistening guitars and an uncanny galloping low end, OSLO could easily be seen as the second coming of The Cure or Joy Division even. They followed that album in 2007 with The Rise and Fall of Love and Hate and then quietly went away. Until now (And the 2011 High Mountain Sessions release) that is as the band prep their newest EP, The Morning After, for a December release. [Read more…]

Goes Cube Go Out With A Bang On Shadows Swallowed the Flood
I remember randomly getting a promo of Goes Cube’s sophomore opus, In Tides And Drifts, without knowing anything about the band but loving every ferocious moment that came after pressing “play”. It was a feat of technical brutality, it was as if Converge took all of their really epic numbers and collected them on one album. It was stunning. It was perfect. [Read more…]

Why I Hate Comics (A Rock And Roll Fables Op-Ed)
Our first comic book post is also going to be our last because after 30+ years of collecting comics, I’m taking a break. No more weekly Wednesday jaunts to the comic store. No more piles of waiting to be read comics on my nightstand. No more piles of cash spent on stuff I feel obligated to buy just because I’ve been buying it for years. Take that as you will. [Read more…]
Marc Heal Delivers Career-Defining Tracks On Debut Solo Album The Hum
As an industrial music fan I’m embarrassed to admit that I was never into Cubanate back in the day. Sure, I dug what they did but for some reason never invested in anything beyond “Oxyacetylene” off the Mortal Kombat soundtrack in the mid ’90’s. Cut to today and I’m scrambling to find a copy of Cyberia because who knew in the digital age that it’d still be hard to legally obtain a copy of an out-of-print classic. [Read more…]
Lowcaster, Your New Favorite Riff Rockers, Unleash The Vapor Sea
Lowcaster, without a doubt, is a band that heavy music lovers will be talking about for a long time to come. Mystical, melodic, and undeniably metal…Lowcaster has crafted a sound that is similarly familiar yet wholly original on debut album, The Vapor Sea, with dual vocalists, dual guitar riffing, and a killer rhythm section making the “Lowcaster sound” truly indescribable at times. [Read more…]
