Whoa.
That’s about all we got when talking about the pair of singles recently debuted by Boston’s Astral Bitch. Now if it only it were that simple, right? Like, we say “YOU SHOULD REALLY LISTEN TO THIS!!!” and then you do and all is right in the world and everyone’s happy. But life ain’t simple which works out because we’re ALWAYS up for the challenge of convincing you why you should dig the hell out of this.
But I digress! A lot!
“You’ve Got It Wrong” shines from the start with guitar work from Liz Walshak and Sam Coren glistening from the get go before Mike Nashawaty and Tracy Putnam’s rhythm section subtly chime in respectively on drums and bass to give the debut track airs of Hole without the pretension followed by bursts of Nu-Grunge as Coren’s cries are surrounded by a wall of fuzz.
If possible, “How To Breathe” is better than that! Dreamy yet dense, “How To Breathe” easily builds off the standard “You’ve Got It Wrong” brought with Coren’s lush delivery completely changing the tone as Nashawaty’s quiet rumbles lead to a full on thunderous thrashing to match Putnam’s intricate pluckings and Coren and Walshak’s ferocious guitars moving from serenity to shreddy to anthemic wails effortlessly.
