Is 2022 the year of BAIT?!?! Gahd, we hope so. Michael Webster is back with an aural attack that’s even more visceral and in-your-face than anything found on the last BAIT outing in 2017 (Or the singles that followed, which we’ve reviewed, since). And if “DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA” is a sign of what’s to come on their upcoming new full-length (Sea Change, out April 1st on Cool Thing Records), then the whole of the music world are in for quite the sonic treat.
Billed as “The Voice of Pandemic Anxiety”, Webster and company as BAIT exquisitely craft a swirling rhythmic onslaught interrupted by staccato percussive pounces and Webster’s biting vox that build towards an Electro-fused peak on “DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA” that’s wholly like the sound of Devo suffering a full-blown panic attack while mixing it up with The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste-era Al Jourgensen.
“DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA” drops on January 14th through Cool Thing Records with full-length Sea Change arriving soon after on April 1st. Keep yer eyes peeled to these spots here or here to download and listen the second the track premieres and for the latest from BAIT, follow the socials by clicking here, here, or here.
