Singles! Combichrist, “Compliance”

I tend to avoid reviews of any sort upon a release date passing because who needs my opinion when you can make one yourself with the materials literally in the palm of your hand in most cases. However, in some cases like with this post, a track or body of music just yearns to be augmented a little more amongst the vast amount of music being perpetually amplified into your earholes. Like the latest from Combichrist which, I think, is one of the best pieces of modern Electro that the Aggrotech titans have been associated with in probably a decade or so.

That said, saying that “Compliance” is the best Combichrist track to drop since the days of Making Monsters or Everybody Hates You would be dismissing what’s come in between which has been different, but equally GREAT! And we’ve reviewed a bunch of it. But it’s just something about the way “Compliance” acts as a refresher on the origins of Combichrist and makes this reviewer yearn a little bit more than normal for when they can dress all in black once again and safely bust a move at their local Goth night (Lookin’ at you, Xmortis).

Pulsating, no, throbbing beats and Electro swells are the lay of the land with “Compliance” which is kind of like an updated take on those 2005, 2009, and 2010 bangers but refined and sounding even more dark and sinister. Combi mastermind Andy LaPlegua is all mechanically-altered tempered rage with barely contained bile being spit out vocally with a lush soundscape built around him on a track that could easily be endlessly listened to on repeat. Which this reviewer pretty much did while putting this all together.

“Compliance” is out now on Out Of Line Music. Hopefully what’s coming is in a similar vein. You can get yours now in a variety of formats now by heading here or clicking on the Bandcamp embed below.
