There’s a lot to be thankful for heading towards the end of 2019 and one thing to be especially thankful for is new music from Of The Dark I Dare as they follow up their debut single “WAR” with the equally engaging Electro epic “STARS”.
Like the yin to the yang that was “WAR” (Or is it the yang to the yin that is “WAR”?), “STARS”, the latest single from Los Angeles-based Electro engineers Of The Dark I Dare is quite the revelation. Opening up another side of their sonic spectrum, “STARS” delves into a kidneythieves meets Maxinquaye-era Tricky or Massive Attack circa 100th Window vibe.
While “WAR” was almost incendiary with its’ intent, “STARS” is more subtle as this sprawling tale lurks more than it lunges with an ominous synthetic blanket provided by RickEy Lumpkin II as Tracy Lorin channels her inner Beth Gibbons and gives a transcendent performance that’s hauntingly exquisite. Speaking of the team of Lorin and Lumpkin II (Along with eLi Parr who co-produced the track as well as co-wrote it), they once again solidify what a potent and promising duo they are within the Electronic world and beyond with their latest offering.
