No More Blue Tomorrows Live Free And Rawk Hard On Debut Full-Length

8 September 2023 By jesse Leave a Comment

Kind of grand all around, the debut full-length from Nashua, NH’s No More Blue Tomorrows has airs of early Front Bottoms and Guster with this kind of Weezer flair for writing catchy anthems and an all around earnest energy that easily reserves NMBT a seat at the big kids table.

RNRF X In Between Days, Local Look: Carissa Johnson

10 August 2023 By jesse Leave a Comment

The biggest issue for us in doing one of these “Local Look” posts for an artist we’ve already covered a bunch (And we mean, like, a BUNCH) in these pages is making sure we contain this to a novella size and not a whole novel, y’know? Think one of the books in the original serial version of The Green Mile and not the combined 432 pages of all six mini-books together. Anyway! Carissa Johnson is playing this year’s In Between Days Festival, appearing on the Arbella Insurance stage on Day 1 of the event happening on August 19th & 20th over at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy and we have some words (Again, just some words) to share on why you should make it out early to catch the live spectacle in person!

Bandcamp Breakdown: Linnea’s Garden

What is not to love about Linnea’s Garden?!?! Like a phoenix, Linnea’s Garden was borne out of the pandemic with a lust for life, a love of all the musics, and the generosity to share that gift with all of us. From their Bandcamp page for debut full-length Fashion Show they’re described as “post punk to indie rock to disco to grunge” which is pretty gotDamn accurate but what it doesn’t state is just how good they are at tackling and combining all those genres as seemingly effortlessly as they do!

James Macdonald: A Rock And Roll Fables Conversation

28 June 2023 By jesse Leave a Comment

Sure, Boston Calling may have kicked off the summer season all strong-like but what have they done for us lately? More importantly, who’s going to be covering that post-4th Of July/pre-Labor Day period??? Well, that’s where the In Between Days Festival comes in as it launches its’ second year later in August and expands to two days back in the fabled land of Quincy (That’s just a hop, skip, and a Red Line T trip from the big city if you were wondering). Recently, we had the opportunity to connect with Festival Director James Macdonald via email who’s joined with founder Alex Magleby (Currently slaying as CEO of the New England Free Jacks rugby team) to steer the 2023 IBD Festival to new heights and beyond thanks to his vast expertise in the crowded Music Festival arena which you can read all about in our interview below:

Carissa Johnson Unveils L’Heure Bleue, After Dark, Gets Deluxe With Expanded Edition Of Blue Hour

1 June 2023 By jesse Leave a Comment

You can put reissues on your year end list even if it’s for a record that’s two years old, right? Because we didn’t get the opportunity to review the regular edition of Blue Hour when it originally arrived in November of 2021 and kinda wanna make it known that it is undeniably tops. Also, we’re going to review the SHIT out of Blue Hour Deluxe from Rum Bar Records and A Diamond Heart Production to make up for our flub which means there’s a whole lotta Carissa Johnson music to talk about with this bigger, bolder edition featuring the album’s original 10 tracks plus 12 tracks collecting previously released The Good EP and the debut of the tunes that make up L’Heure Bleue, After Dark for a walloping 22 new to some, old but differently structured songs from the formerly Boston-based musician.

A Rock And Roll Fables Premiere: Carissa Johnson & Steph Curran, “99 Luftballons”

28 August 2020 By jesse Leave a Comment
