Alice In Chains is one of my all-time favorites. To the point of being almost sacred. So when Layne Staley tragically passed away, I like so many others believed that Alice In Chains was done. They weren’t and today continue to honor the legacy of Staley while cementing their status as living legends in the upper echelons of Hard Rawk and Metal. Speaking of that legacy, it was 1992’s Dirt that helped to catapult the Seattle quartet into those hallowed halls and almost twenty years later Magnetic Eye Records is paying tribute to the iconic record with their latest [Redux] release.[Read more…]
19 in ’19: A Truly Exhausting Look At The 19 Albums You should’ve Paid Attention to in 2019.
I was going to start this thing off with an additional list of “honorable mentions” so I could add EVERYTHING I wanted to include on this year end list but figured, if you regularly read this blog then you know that whatever gets featured here already has major heart eyes from its’ Editor-In-Chief so without further adieu, here’s the real meat and potatoes (Hyperlinks to our reviews are in the headers where applicable):[Read more…]
Ghastly Sound Help Listeners Have A Nice Day On Rawk Solid Debut Full-Length
Easily one of our most anticipated releases of 2019 (It was number twelve on our “19 for’19” preview, Read that here), Ghastly Sound is finally ready to astound and amaze with their debut full-length coming at you through Magnetic Eye Records in September. But is the magic still there? Can this three-piece from Vermont hold your attention beyond three or four songs? Why are we treating this opening paragraph like the closing of a Batman episode from the ’60’s? Tune in next week at the same RNRF time and the same RNRF channel to find out! Mike Vitali Has Started A Patreon (And Why You Should Care)!
Personally, I’ve subscribed to a few Patreon accounts and they can be a mixed bag. One I subscribe to gives the goods very frequently with informative updates, fun observations, etc. while another one I recently unsubscribed from couldn’t even provide the tee shirt promised with the tier I subscribed to let alone regular content.[Read more…]
19 for ’19: An Even More Exhaustive Look/Speculation On What Will Float Yer Collective Boats In The Coming Year
Holy hell do we have to nip this thing in the bud before we even start! The idea was to have 19 solid releases that are in various states of development to fill out our list of most anticipated for 2019 (Get it? 19 in ’19) but then we kept thinking about ALL THE REST that are due (supposedly) so we had to add a precursor to said list which, well, got kind of insane. So for your reading pleasure is this stream of consciousness thing we concocted before the actual list which follows directly after. We even put artists in bold so you can skip around the wordsplosion that’s about to happen. Thanks in advance for reading! [Read more…]
Magnetic Eye Records Presents New And Old Favorites Covering Pink Floyd On The Wall [Redux]
I’ve gotta be honest, okay? I’m not a big Pink Floyd fan. Like, at all. I remember having a few of their albums and seeking out the live Is There Anybody Out There? record back in 2000 because I had a gift certificate to some music store that was burning a hole in my pocket but beyond that? They do nothing for me. Sorry? [Read more…]

Ghastly Sound Release Debut EP, Singlehandedly Save Rock And Roll In The Process
Like a mix of Torche and Kylesa’s brand of sludge rawk fronted by someone who can bring a Dickinsonian monster croon one minute and a brash growl the next, Ghastly Sound just might be the band to give current rawk and/or roll the swift kick in the ass it so desperately needs. [Read more…]
