These Beasts Mix Post-Hardcore, Sludge, And Rawk To Fantastic Results On Self-Titled Debut

25 March 2019 By jesse Leave a Comment

Our love for Magnetic Eye Records has been well documented in these pages so it should come as no surprise that their latest offering, from Chicago’s These Beasts, is an aural walloping unlike any you’ve heard before.

Dan Dinsmore: A Rock And Roll Fables Conversation

21 December 2018 By jesse Leave a Comment

There’s a lot of layers to Dan Dinsmore. When he’s not creating a glorious maelstrom of unique beats with The Clay People he can be found running his web design and development/PR/Marketing firm Overit or co-managing one of our favorite labels, Magnetic Eye Records, alongside founder Mike Vitali. Yet he still made time to talk to us about TCP’s resurgence and more and for that we are forever grateful. [Read more…]

Magnetic Eye Records Presents New And Old Favorites Covering Pink Floyd On The Wall [Redux]

5 November 2018 By jesse Leave a Comment

I’ve gotta be honest, okay? I’m not a big Pink Floyd fan. Like, at all. I remember having a few of their albums and seeking out the live Is There Anybody Out There? record back in 2000 because I had a gift certificate to some music store that was burning a hole in my pocket but beyond that? They do nothing for me. Sorry? [Read more…]

The Clay People Return With Riveting Demon Hero (& other Extraordinary Phantasmagoric Anomalies & Fables)

21 September 2018 By jesse 2 Comments

Holy hell! When a band I’ve consistently liked over the years fades away then comes crashing back with, not only a solid record but, an album that easily makes it into our year end best list on the strength of their “comeback” then consider us one happy music fan.

But who are we talking about? [Read more…]

T-Tops Do Old School Noise Rawk Right On Disease

17 September 2018 By jesse Leave a Comment

Currently in alphabetical order in my Itunes library, the latest from T-Tops leads right into Tad’s Inhaler and the flow is pretty seamless because the kind of Post-punk, fuzzed out noise rawk with a raving madman at the mic that T-Tops currently create is just the kind of magic that made an underrated band like those Seattle grungesters stand out back in their day. Mountain Tamer Do Psychedelia Proud On Fuzzed Out Godfortune Dark Matters

23 August 2018 By jesse Leave a Comment

A truly unholy album worthy of all the worshipping adjectives and curse words that will undoubtedly be hurled at it once it’s unveiled to the masses in full, Godfortune Dark Matters by Mountain Tamer is a gorgeous slab of glistening psychedelic sludge that’s as gruesome as it is groovy.

Phew! That was a mouthful!

But I digress. [Read more…]

Nopes Make Interesting, Compelling Rawk For 21st Century Short Attention Spans On Stapler

7 August 2018 By jesse Leave a Comment

In the age of short attention spans, an album that runs nineteen tracks is long to say the least. But fear not, faithful reader! Would we mention a nineteen track album and short attention span in the same sentence if there wasn’t a catch? [Read more…]

River Cult Pack Debut Halcyon Daze With Hearty Jams

2 February 2018 By jesse Leave a Comment

Beginning with a  hearty jam that Clutch would thoroughly approve of, Brooklyn’s River Cult kick off their debut album with the walloping “Likelihood of Confusion” which in all likelihood will not leave listeners confused as to the rawkin’ intent of this trio. Concluding with a spacious excursion of sound that’s like a mix of “Spacegrass” and Sky Valley-era Kyuss, the lengthy opener still barely scratches the sonic surface of what’s to come. [Read more…]
