The end is nigh for the return of the mighty Rock & Roll Rumble as we settle in for Night 2 (Show #8 of 9 if you’re keeping count) of the Semi-Final Round on our way to the Finals on May 6th. But tonight (April 22nd) over at Sonia, the artists that made it this far gave it their all with one of the most solid shows so far this Rumble season. Let’s dive in, shall we?

Week 2 of the triumphant return of the Rock And Roll Rumble raged on at the the Middle East Upstairs on Thursday, April 13th for what was a bittersweet event for us having relatively recently reviewed 3 out of the 4 artists vying for a spot in the Semi-Final rounds. It also happened to be one of the loudest of the whole Rumble so far as attendees were greeted once again by our fabulous host, Anngelle Wood of Boston Emissions, to start a raucous night of, ahem, RAWK, and then some!

Can we just plaster this post with the weeping emoji? Or the heartbreaking one? Because who can choose between these artists?? Same goes for each night but this is the first night where 3 out of the 4 entrants have been gushed upon by us fairly recently (That said, is it shitty to link to our own reviews when talking about tonight’s artists because we’ve got some built in posts is all…) so it’s fair to say we’re coming in a little biased as to why this night might be our favorite of all the preliminary rounds. After covering the brilliant “Colors” single by Lowell’s own Tysk Tysk Task, we somehow managed to drop the ball and completely miss the equally brilliant “Rosegold” released in late July (Check it out here)… but we’ll be damned if we miss out again! Within the last month or so alone we’ve covered artists from the city in Middlesex County who are exquisitely brandishing variations of Darkwave, Alt-Folk, and more with Tysk Tysk Task arriving and adding to that list with their self-described “Indie Grunge Rock”.
