There was a reason we swore that the Neverless.am singles released in 2024 would bookend our local best of playlist (Hear it here if you missed it) and definitely a reason that the record that those tracks (“Can’t Let Go”, “Will I Ever?”) would eventually end up on was one of our most anticipated releases of 2025. Tapping into this gnarly Alternative Grunge amalgamation but also equal parts brooding and brutal, The Quiet Room is the perfect escape for fans who like their songs filled with harmony but also appreciate heaviness.
Opener “Freya Falls” acts as a guide displaying a tenderness from CA Newcomb’s vocal delivery that’s filled with tension before the two and a half minute and change delightful then demonic dose of “Can’t Let Go” arrives to shake things up considerably. Nothing stirs the pot quite like the title track, though, which is a robust rawker that’s all riled up from the start and raucously rumbles relentlessly from the drumming and Ben Caito’s bass accompanying Newcomb’s shreds, solos, screams, and spritely sing-song verses.
“I’m Not Checking In” just basks in the HEAVY. A headbanger’s delight that’s still filled with a harmonious hum, the track kind of epitomizes the delightful dichotomy that Neverless.am represents throughout TQR as “False Witness” continues the lesson in loud with Newcomb’s growl glowering over the gnarly instrumental noise created by CA, Caito and drummers Nick White and Zach Feinstein. “Anhedonia” brings it back to the lighter side with a slightly more straight forward Rawk banger and Newcomb’s ethereal voice taking the reins before “Will I Ever?” closes this particular collection of sonic stories with a song that we can only describe as having the “Neverless.am sound” and dipping its’ toes once again into the ever-present waters of malevolent melancholy.
