Day-Glow Foxes Bring West Coast Electro To The East Coast On Modern Eschatology

We only recently (Last 6 months or so) discovered Los Angeles’ Sacred Skin and have been drooling ever since so imagine our surprise when that West Coast Electro had a home on the East Coast courtesy of Worcester’s own Day-Glow Foxes and their newest full-length, Modern Eschatology!

Comprised of Chris Dunne (bass), John Baird (drums), and Sam Frechette (guitar, vocals), Day-Glow Foxes organically recreate a far out there sound that’s danceable and divine and brings to mind the aforementioned Sacred Skin (Check them out now if you haven’t heard their sounds yet!), Shiny Toy Guns, and The Faint.

Opener “Babylon” is Thomas Dolby and Gary Numan jamming with Blank-Wave Arcade era The Faint on a ferociously fun and intensely infectious ditty that sets the bar very high for the rest of the record. Luckily, the expectations compared to “Babylon” are constantly met and consistently exceeded with “Human” easily going above and beyond with a Dunne-led bumpin’ bass serving as the, ahem, base as Frechette’s and Baird’s respective guitar and drums pile onto the memorable sonic palette painted here.

“Superego Death” is a thumping anthem and a half with Frechette’s endearing croon matching the throbbing beats and wall of sound created while “As I Was // As I Am” takes a turn in the poppier spectrum for a tantalizing treat with one catchy ass chorus just about midway through the album. “Psychopomp” is epic and otherworldly coming in hot like a cross between Orgy and later Duran Duran (Think somewhere between Medazzaland and All You Need Is Now) before being broken up by “Interlude” with subtle strums that bring to mind “Space Oddity” with “Last Call” swooping in next like a proper Pop-Punk rager.

“Little Apocalypse” immediately goes to another stratosphere upon lift off for a foray into the futuristic and “The Prophet” is gargantuan in length and scope with over six minutes of hard hitting Frechette riffs and Baird’s bombastic bashing. “All My Brothers” is kind of haunting disguised as a Hard Rawk heavyweight but also treading Space Rawk territory with glistening tones and a synthetic blanket accenting the otherworldly atmosphere which feeds nicely into “Traveler” and its’ ethereal essence across the acoustic, subdued final moments of Modern Eschatology.

Modern Eschatology is out NOW and can be yours to hear and to hold (Metaphysically if you download? Or physically of you get a physical copy…) instantaneously when you head here or to the stream below. For more from Day-Glow Foxes, check out their socials when you head here, here, or here.
