Falsely Accused Firm Up Five Fiery Tracks Of Fierce Sonic Synergy For New EP Unbroken

Artwork by Matt Tavano

We’ll say it: Two of the best singles to come out of the Boston Music Scene in 2024 were conjured up by Falsely Accused. There’s no denying the strength and staying power of “A Drink Before The War” and “Witches” so it should come as no surprise that the EP that they both belong to, the upcoming Unbroken, is just as potent.

On its’ own, “A Drink Before The War” is a pretty fantastic sounding anthem but as the opening shot from Unbroken, the track takes on a whole new meaning and sounds practically epic leading the charge of these five new songs. “Castaway” follows, continuing on with FA’s trend of adding a variety of flavors to their already diverse musical menu, with Matt Tavano’s low end rallying the troops before the rest of the band chimes in on this swooping swooning subtle crusher with fiery guitar solos from Mark Young and a barrage of percussion from Mike Azzolino that’ll stay with you long after the song ends.

Next up is “Witches” and we already know that ones’a doozy bringing a fiercely feral ripper with bite and an auditory aura that’s positively haunting while “Drifting” quiets the proceedings down some with an acoustical oration that still manages to bark accompanied by a memorable chorus. If Unbroken didn’t already have enough meaningful musical moments to write home about then their gargantuan closer is sure to leave a lasting impression as “Soul Crush”, sitting at seven minutes and change, is just everything and more from the Boston trio. Highlighting everyone’s strengths in this culmination of sonic synergy, Young’s guitar lines come like a modern Ry Cooder, Azzolino’s drumming is purposefully primal especially in the jam/breakdown stretch, and Tavano’s bass lines and vocals are both compelling and cathartic.

Unbroken arrives on January 31st with a release show to follow at Thirsty First Tavern in Lowell, MA on February 15th with Derek Smith And The Cosmic Vultures and Adios Fatso also on the bill (Get all the deets here).
