In the press release for “Large Quantities Of Unnecessary Supplies”, the style of music that A Lost Asylum create is described as “Blurring the lines between post-hardcore, pop punk, and easycore” and while our age is showing with an apparent lack of knowledge to anything “Easycore” (Editor’s note: A quick Google on “Easycore” sorts it as “A pop punk subgenre that combines elements of metalcore, incorporating use of breakdowns, screams, major key progressions and riffs and synthesizers.”) we will go on the record as saying this song slaps.
And yeah, those descriptors ARE fairly accurate as they pertain to A Lost Asylum’s new single “Large Quantities Of Unnecessary Supplies”. They’re definitely Post-something that’s for sure combined with the kind of maturity (Bear with us on this one, okay?) that Papa Roach displayed on the non-party anthem jams off Infest (“Broken Home”, “Between Angels And Insects”) for a unique genre-blend.
Holly Watson’s voice is a shining light that treads a fine line between vulnerable and victorious throughout this banger with Tyson Loveridge on guitars bringing the RIFFS which herald both the shreddy and serenity with Justin Bell acting as a one person rhythm section handling both bass and drums as well as adding Backing Vox (Reminds us of Adam D.’s screams in Killswitch Engage) to support Watson on a tune that is infectious, inspiring, and everything you’d want out of a new Metal anthem.
