(EDITOR’S NOTE: The intro you’re about to read was started ahead of the 2.13 release. Life got in the way and that deadline for us passed but we liked it so much we decided to stick it in here to start regardless so bear with us and this slight blast from the past):
Sure, we’re superstitious about some things but Friday the 13th has always been a good day for us… and now it’s a good day for you, too, with a slew of kick ass new releases slated to arrive including not one, but TWO new tracks from Boston’s American Ocelot!
What a pair of new singles! It’s been a little bit of time since we last heard from AO but wowza did they come correct with the sounds! “Dropped” is immediately catchy, borderline scorching with searing guitar lines (Courtesy of Kevin James) and a feel that’s a cross between that sing-song Josie and the Pussycats kind of Pop and peak ’90’s Alternative in the vein of Dinosaur Jr. at their most accessible. On the flippity flip, “Invisible Lines” is vibrant with Joanie Lynch (Also on rhythm guitar and keys) cathartically crooning as Charlie Sullivan’s bass and Kurt James’ percussion prowess collide with James’ licks in an intricate yet intimate way to cause this delectable dichotomy of modern Alternative Pop.
“Dropped” & “Invisible Lines” are out now ahead of an upcoming new full-length LP and you can find your copy by heading here or to the stream below. For more AO happenings, be sure to stay tuned to the socials by heading here or here.
