Massachusetts’ own progenitors of bleeps and boops (Not really), Battlemode, is ready for their close up on May 23rd during this year’s Boston Calling when the chiptune trio (Really) is scheduled to open up the Orange Stage and hopefully not blow the roof off the joint (Outdoors, but still…) before anyone else takes the stage that day (Lookin’ at you, T-Pain!)… which might be a tall task with a repertoire consisting of songs like new single “Game Over” in play!
That’s right! There’s a new Battlemode track in the mix to get you ready for the upcoming big stage bash that’s destined to be the earworm of the Summer, if not all of 2025, with this hypnotic Gnarls Barkley meets The Faint Electo-fied romp that’s filled with mad beats despite an air of melancholy as the song tackles “when someone has tried your patience to a point where you’re dead inside” according to 1/3 of BM, Biff (On Vocals, Violin, Keyboard, & Aerophone). Joined with Astrologic (“Astro” on Vocals, Game Boy) and Sam Mulligan (On Vocals, Guitar), the full might of the ‘Mode also promises an experience like no other for their upcoming spotlight set with the band “hard at work crafting a visual experience that anyone who has ever played a single video game in their lives needs to come by and check out” according to the “Game Over” press release.
“Game Over” drops on May 16th ahead of the aforementioned Boston Calling performance at the Harvard Athletic Complex on May 23rd.
