You never know what you’re gonna get when you press “play” on a new Cold Expectations jam. And that’s a good thing! Not because the Boston-based outfit is inconsistent in their output by any means but more that their brand of sonic storytelling is always moving forward. As is the case with new single “Our Hearts Need Electricity”.
“Infectious” is always a term that’s on the table when talking up Cold Expectations but with “Our Heart Needs Electricity” it’s “hypnotic” that’s the more accurate descriptor with Steve Prygoda’s voice especially ringing out over JoEllen Saunders’ bass work and vocal harmonies as Mike Demers’ drumming slams then abruptly applies some start/stop accents to keep listeners ever on their toes. Textured, layered, and denser than ever before, “Our Hearts Need Electricity” heralds a new era for the band and we definitely think you’re gonna wanna tune in sooner rather than later (If you haven’t already, that is).
