Fans of what many would consider the “classic” lineup of KMFDM in the mid-’90’s (Or maybe “Ultra” version is the more apt descriptor here) and who have been following the resurgence of PIG and Raymond Watts over the last 6 or so years should definitely pay attention to the first single off EN ESCH’s first new LP in over seven years. Because with “Push”, En Esch manages to encapsulate a LOT of what you might love about those two era’s while also striving to make a statement all its’ own.
“Push” is a pulsating majestic Electro beast befitting the legendary EN ESCH and boasts a cast that includes the aforementioned Mr Watts (Whose familiar snarl definitely peaks through the luxuriant layered vox throughout the track) along with former Lords Of Acid songstress Erica Dilanjian on additional vocals and Gabriel Lennox also on added vocals as well as programming. As a whole, the new effort from EN ESCH is a refreshing return that hearkens back to the Industrial/Dance days of yore wrapped in this special electronic blanket that envelopes and enlightens, illuminating only a little of what’s to come on the upcoming full-length.
Looking for something a little different? Then stay tuned for the KPT “Further” mix of “Push” that peels back the layers even more by spotlighting the individual vocal lines, deconstructs it all, adds some extra JQ Lexvold guitars and Joshua Lexvold synth and programming to create something altogether different yet true to the “Push” soul.
