Oh hey! It’s another band we’re playing catch up with that, in the time it took to finish one piece, has since gone on to release TWO MORE SINGLES (And some accompanying videos as well)… but unlike the last related post where this happened, we’re not going to tackle all four songs here because Friendship Commanders has a new record on the way that’s barely a month out from release and we’d like to save some words for all of that (We will say that both “MIDHEAVEN” and “X” are rad as hell and you should definitely listen, save, stream, download, all the things immediately following reading this piece).
Anyway! The important thing is: There’s new Friendship Commanders music! Ahead of a new album! On a new label! And it all started with “KEEPING SCORE” and “MELT”! New songs? Glowing! And by new songs we mean the FOUR TOTAL out in the ether since we’ve procrastinated so long (Read: Life got in the way shit). In fact, we’ve held off so long that we now have a copy of BEAR in the office and can safely say that if you think these few tracks paint the whole picture, you ain’t heard nothing yet. Seriously.
“KEEPING SCORE” just sounds HUGE. A burgeoning buzz from Buick Audra’s guitars and Jerry Roe’s bass accompaniment fills the room with a fuzzed out fervor that Kyuss perfected on Blues For The Red Sun (Similarly Torche and Kylesa do this oh so well as well). It’s a fitting re-introduction to the Friendship Commanders world especially if you’re transitioning out of Buick Audra solo album mode (ADULT CHILD! Have you heard it? Get it here now if you haven’t.) and a fitting opener for the incoming BEAR.
“MELT” is similarly massive as Audra comes in with a glistening “Ah! Ah!” before Roe’s driving drumming moves the plot along on this anthemic banger that’s a timeless addition in the FC discography hearkening back to early ’90’s Alternative and Grunge while also fitting nicely in the now.
“KEEPING SCORE/MELT” (Along with “X” and “MIDHEAVEN”) are out on NOW ahead of BEAR which is headed your way on October 10th through Magnetic Eye Records.
