A song about loss inspired by the sudden passing of Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins… but hopeful? We’re not a gambling site by any means but If any artist was to pull off turning a feeling of universal melancholy into some truly magical musical moments (And, more often than not, simply from the timbre of Linda Viens’ voice) then we’d place our bets on Boston’s Girl With A Hawk to deliver on that front EVERY TIME.
Which brings us to “No One Like You”, the latest offering from GWAH. And yeah, it’s becoming pretty apparent to us at least that vocalist/guitarist Viens’ way with words and melodies is pretty much unrivaled at this point. But that’s not all! Also within the Boston quintet’s newest are rousing choruses, Richard Lamphear’s somber yet uplifting organ tones (With airs of Dire Straits at times), Nancy Delaney’s signature stick work with bassist Dan Bernfeld rounding out the rhythm section, and Daniel Coughlin’s guitars accenting Viens’ strums.
“No One Like You” arrives through Rum Bar Records on March 7th and you should stay tuned to these spots here and here to get your copy the second it drops. For more from Girl With A Hawk, head on over to the interwebs and click here or here for all the latest!
