Singles! Girl With A Hawk, “Share It All”

Cover design by Nicole Anguish

A review of new music from Girl With A Hawk practically writes itself. Not because the Boston-based quintet’s sound is predictable by any means just that whatever they craft is guaranteed to be a potpourri of powerful prose that definitely pops (Both in the musical variety or as a verb) with a way about it that lingers on long after it’s over. Like latest track, “Share It All”.

One of the best parts about sitting down to dive in as a listener and as a reviewer of Girl With A Hawk music lately is finding out which GWAH is going to show up to the party this time as their output recently has covered a lot of different genres (Hence the potpourri comment earlier). Will the political-leaning folksy Americana outfit (Last month’s “#VOTE (Rock the Boat)”) show up or maybe the New Wave-driven and synth heavy band that brought you “Feel Me”? Turns out, with “Share It All”, Girl With A Hawk took all of that plus a little of the Rawk from “Way with Words” to give you a little bit of everything.

Here we get a Fleetwood Mac meets Tom Petty hybrid that might seem like a far cry from “#VOTE (Rock the Boat)” but still retains a message of hope as vocalist/guitarist/songwriter/lead Hawk Linda Viens so earnestly and eloquently croons throughout the chorus of a song initially penned during the COVID-19 pandemic. The biggest difference this time around, though, is the return of Viens’ compatriots who were mostly in different roles during the last release but here the full might of Daniel Coughlin (Guitars), Richard Lamphear (Keys), Nancy Delaney (Drums), and Dan Bernfeld (Bass) are back to heighten the new jam that feels like a sonic embrace.

“Share It All” is out through Rum Bar Records on October 25th and you can be one of the first to hear it when you head here. For more from Girl With A Hawk, follow them across the interwebs by clicking here, here, or here.

  1. Goddamn Jesse – you truly ‘get us’!!!! (hahahaha I feel like Sally Fields right now…;-) – but seriously – thanks for always digging in to feel and understand the ‘layers’ of GWAH and so many others. Appreciate your observant, kind words (and humor!) – so very much. Thank you!!!
