Singles! Happy Little Clouds, “Lungs”

To say Happy Little Clouds is having a banner year is kind of a big understatement this deep into 2024. Following what we think was a standout appearance in Dave Habeeb’s gorgeous Beautiful Was The Fight documentary (Have you managed to see it yet???) and two crushing new singles to start off this year (“The Emperor’s Song”, “I Don’t Suppose”) not to mention plenty of high profile and accoladed live shows, HLC is in a bit of a renaissance mode and we are here for it!

But where are we going with all this? To a new song, of course! And like the rest of what’s come so far this year, it’s best to expect the unexpected when it comes to new Happy Little Clouds music. Especially when the bluesy psychedelic sounds of “Lungs” make their way into your earholes. Probably the most “old school” HLC track of the bunch out so far with a vibe that’d be perfectly at home on 2016’s Shift (Yes, kids, Happy Little Clouds has done their time around town), “Lungs” manages to stand out as a more elevated version of that previous incarnation bulked up by Jess Townsend’s tender yet tenacious drumming, JD Bergstrom’s rolling rumble on the bass, and Jac Mestel’s all encompassing master of ceremonies role on guitar, that aforementioned trippy organ stuffs, and a soulful Blues-driven bravado on the mic.

“Lungs” takes its’ first breath on July 26th (Too cheesy?? Sorry, we’re sticking with it.) and you can make sure you’re in the know and get your copy as soon as it drops by heading here. For even more Happy Little Clouds happiness, such as upcoming live shows at Warehouse XI in Somerville on August 1st and as a part of JP Porchfest on August 24th, follow the trio across the interwebs by clicking here or here.
