You can’t get more DIY than breaking into your old studio in order to film a new video that’s also an homage to an earlier video. Or maybe that’s a circle of life thing? Whatever the analogy, Linnea’s Garden is capping off a steady stream of video and single releases with their latest Looking Forward To The Moment and the final single/video release from that banger called “Nice Things”.
And “nice” is definitely the right descriptor about all things regarding the last song on LG’s newest EP which is a righteous riff riot that echoes Queens of the Stone Age’s earliest works (Think “Regular John”) with a flair for ’90’s Alternative. Super Tough Ray Clough keeps the time and tackles some tasty fills while Hands brings his signature bass boom to the party with Linnea Herzog making magic on the frets while playfully positing how the “Nice Things” in question are often something we can’t hold onto.
As we mentioned the video was shot on site of the former studio of Linnea’s Garden that the trio was unceremoniously kicked out of which, as you can see in the “Nice Things” visual accompaniment, has been gutted. Filmed by Herzog and Hands, the bare bones and all romp through a demolished studio that is “Nice Things” also pays tribute to “Non-Dramatic Breakup Song” (Check it out here) which was also filmed at the same location… under obviously better circumstances. But it all works out and frankly, the “after” video has the added element of danger and, ahem, nicely taps into the song’s message.
Both the video for “Nice Things” and the EP it appears on, Looking Forward To The Moment, are out now!
