Sure, you might feel like you’re in a time warp or even suffering from deja vu with the amount of times we’ve gushed over new Looking Glass War releases but what can we say, we calls ’em like we sees ’em! And frankly, just because we’re perennially gushing doesn’t make it any less true because Looking Glass War do what they do really, REALLY well.
But onto the new one!
Sharing two members with Parlour Bells might seem like a struggle to differentiate especially with a front person as charismatic as Goddamn Glenn is (Not to mention a truly distinct vocal talent as well) but oddly enough, as a listener they make it easy to tell each apart. Especially on latest “Adamantine Chain Gang” where the Post-Rawk feel is ever present and effervescent with a robust rumble from Tony Porter’s drums and Mike Ackley’s bass and guitars from Pete Zeigler that remind us of the kinds of modern takes on the genre that Beastmilk (Or now, Grave Pleasures) and Holograms previously used to conquer. Easily setting LSG apart from those other outfits is the one and only Goddamn Glenn who here, like the Pied Piper, enchants with a vocal range and sound that’s untouchable as it purposefully weaves through the sonic tapestry that Ackley, Zeigler, and Porter have crafted like a threaded needle.
