Singles! The Far Out, “Laurel”

It’s not even that something needs the Knyvet seal of approval but more we get backlogged and then one of the greatest to do it, Knyvet PR (Bands! You should acquire their services if you haven’t already), will hand us something that’s previously come across our desk all packaged up pretty and we’re reminded (We shit you not, you have no idea how long the tab for their single “Packed To Go” sat open in our Google Chrome browser) that “Oh shit! This is great! Why didn’t we get to it again?!?!” But we’re here (again) now to talk up the fantabulous newer single from The Far Out called “Laurel”!

There’s a lot to appreciate in “Laurel” and a LOT of musicians to give credit to for bringing this big mammer jammer to life! Written by lead vocalist Olivia Lowe, drummer Drew Phillips, and Henry Zagarella who brings the Keys, Organs, and Backing Vox, “Laurel” brings to mind old Motown grooves (Think The Temptations) but in a modern setting crafted by a collective who one could easily picture breaking out into song during a scene in one of our all time’s, The Blues Brothers. As for the rest of that collective performing on “Laurel”, in addition to Zagarella, Phillips, and Lowe there’s brass section representation from Gerry Dolan (Trumpet), Ellie Dolan (Trumpet, Backing Vox), Andrew Fremont-Smith (Trombone), and Jamie Fremont-Smith (Trumpet), Colin Senechal with the tenor sax action, and Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals by Ryan Fremont-Smith. And in an age of short attention spans, it’s great to hear a full on BAND bringing not only one of the catchiest tracks of the summer but, quite possibly, the year.

“Laurel” dances its’ way into your hearts, heads, and earholes on May 30th and you can prepare by doing the pre-saving when you click here. For live dates and more from The Far Out, head here, and for the individual socials you can click here, here or here.
