Right now it takes a lot to entice us out of our Summer coma (Which is almost over, we promise!) but hearing this new slab of staggering shreds paired with static beats topped off by similarly salty and saccharine vocals from Salem’s The Fool’s Agenda was such that it elicited some sort of response out of us. In this case, a review! Albeit a belated one. But still! We’re trying right now, okay???
Anyway! It’s songs like “Dumb (Take Me Out)” that herald impending full-lengths (Slated for October) which are the reason we hold off on closing our end of the year best of lists until the very last minute. Not short, not sweet, but definitely to the point, the newest from The Fool’s Agenda is an in-your-face kick in the pants that you just might need if you’re bored by the sometimes stagnant output from the rest of the Alternative crowd currently clogging up the airwaves.
Kamryn Bode is responsible for that percussive attack while the prose from vocalist Rhiannon Raine is perfunctory yet profound and practically pounces with the bouncing cadences Raine summons (“You’ve underpromised/And oversold/It was a good set/So I’ve been told”). Kyle Erickson backs all that with some fierce fret stylings and then Jon Gray’s bass fills in whatever spaces are left like a bricklayer constructing a solid foundation.
“Dumb (Take Me Out)” is out NOW and you can get yours at all the usual DSP haunts that are found when you click here.
