Bring on the new bands! We love the opportunity to support the local community when we can and we especially love it when something comes across our radar before potentially getting pitched! Because, like we mentioned in our recent Kathy Snax piece (Read it here), one of the greatest places to find a new favorite is when a current favorite is playing a show! Because because! Unlike bigger tours where you never know why a support act is on the bill, you can be pretty confident that at the local level artists are stacking their bills with the bands you need to hear. And that brings us to Yes Nanny, who we started following after our review of the new double A-side from The Chelsea Curve as they’ll be a part of the record release show for that release (More on that later)!
Garage Rawk at its’ finest is a helluva tag to have on your debut single… which also happens to be a demo. But it’s true! All the elements that make “The Other Ones (Demo)” great are right here: A steady rumble from Cindy Vaccaro’s drums, a roaring hum from Josh Pickering’s bass, and these lush vocals that counterpoint the fuzzed out guitars which are both brought forth from Tai Heatley. It also helps that the overall sound was forged from a trio of seasoned scene vets responsible for bringing some of that nice noise heard out of Bikini Whale, Material World, The Spoilers, and Petty Morals to boot! Together, Yes Nanny sounds like all of it and none of it. And we are here for all of it. You should be, too.
