Spooky SZN Sounds: Ceremony Shadows, “Future Past Collapse”

Cover by by Sinéad de Beauvoir

The honor of the first “Spooky SZN Sounds” offering of the season goes to Ceremony Shadows! We figured this would be as good a place as any to highlight “Future Past Collapse”, the latest sonic concoction from the Portland-based Electro/Darkwave trio, as they’ve already managed to grace the site several times over since beginning to drop sultry synthetic nuggets which culminated with their debut full-length Ascension earlier this year.

But as you can tell by this post, Ascension is by no means the end of the CS tale in 2025 with “Future Past Collapse” adding a decidedly different color palette to the band’s already vibrant vibes. Sounding like an outfit fully in tune with their message, “Future Past Collapse” heralds a brighter arc overall thanks to the lush programming from Timo. Don’t get us wrong, Jakub still inhabits the airs of Shriekback with each pounced upon prose while Anastasia continues to be a mystical muse with pointed musings uttered in an ethereal state but overall think New Order or Pet Shop Boys which harbor glimmers of the Dark yet bounce in the light.

“Future Past Collapse” is out TODAY and can be yours immediately by heading here or to the stream below. For more from Ceremony Shadows, including the latest on upcoming live shows, hit the information superhighway and make sure you stop here or here.
