Travels With Brindle Bring Some Ukulele-Driven Pop To The People On Notes From Undergrad

24 May 2023 By jesse Leave a Comment

We try to be as musically diverse as (in)humanly possible with our small operation but mostly it comes down to picking stuff to promote that speaks to us. More often than not that “stuff” flies somewhere under the banner of HEAVY in various forms with a similar emphasis on the Post-whatever genre. However, every once in awhile we have something come across ye olde digital desk that both speaks to us AND is well outside the usual fare that comes out of this space so double win when that happens. Like today. With Travels With Brindle’s debut full-length Notes From Undergrad which is the best Ukulele-driven Pop record you’ll hear this year. And yes, you read that right: “Ukulele-driven Pop”. Let’s dive in, shall we?

Singles! Shedonist, “Daddy”

5 March 2021 By jesse Leave a Comment

Blues-fueled Alternative Rawk is the name of the game when it comes to Shedonist’s latest single, “Daddy”, so if you grew up in the ’80’s and ’90’s like I did then you’re in for a treat. And if you didn’t, you’re still in for a treat because the new song rawks.

Poppy Delivers Your First Must-Have Metal Record…Or Must-Have Pop Album Of 2020 With I Disagree

10 January 2020 By jesse Leave a Comment

You can blame VOWWS for my newfound love of all things Poppy. As stated in our 2020 preview (Which you can conveniently read now by clicking here), I didn’t get “I Disagree” when it was released. At all. The music was all over the place and the accompanying video, while visually engaging, did nothing for me. Then I found out that VOWWS, whom I adore, was supporting Poppy on her European tour. And on her North American tour. Then I heard “BLOODMONEY”. And I was hooked.

Live Blog: Viewing “Artifact” by 30 Seconds to Mars

11 January 2014 By Regina 5 Comments

So, I’m going to give this a try…I’m halfway drunk and going to liveblog this potentially fucking awesome/terrible movie. We have an extra copy on hand (don’t ask), so entertain me in the comments — if you can make me spill my wine, you win. Of course, you’ll have to send your snail mail to us so we can send you the DVD, so choose wisely!

ETA: Yes, once I interviewed the band. It was weird. And, like, a million years ago.

Read the dirrrrty here.

Breton like you even if you’re a Tourist on new single “Envy”!

14 November 2013 By jesse Leave a Comment

Steel drums come alive tonight on Breton’s latest single off the forthcoming War Room Stories. There’s not much to say about “Envy” after you hear it once. It’s incredible and expands greatly on the sound the UK based filmmakers-turned-music wizards created on a series of EP’s and on their debut full-length, 2012’s Other People’s Problems.

“Envy” takes it all to the next level. It’s bouncier and is wholly more organic than some of Breton’s earlier works adding a Caribbean flair but still retaining their core sound.

The sure to be brilliant new album is due on February 3rd. Pre-order yours today right here and, of course, check out “Envy” over on Breton’s Soundcloud page!
