Major Moment Deliver Earnest Synth-Fueled Hard Pop On The Pain That Makes Us Grow

We first got turned onto Major Moment when researching the ill-fated Capulet Fest (Which just passed its’ 1-year non-iversary! Read more here) and, unfortunately, lots of our pre-coverage fell by the wayside. Major Moment was not one of the artists affected by that (Read our initial MM thoughts here) but with a new record teased last year when all of that was going on we always knew we wanted to revisit the band. Now, a year removed, the resulting album is The Pain That Makes Us Grow and it is a BANGER.

It’s a big record, sounding and length-wise (14 tracks/28 or 31 with extended/instrumental versions depending on where you get yours), so in the interest of y’all and of this piece not being turned into a novel by going track-by-track like we’d normally do (Also because we’ve been working on this for a bit and wanna get it out…) we’re going with some highlights on an album that’s, honestly, filled with ’em!

You’ve heard lots of this record already, we’re sure of it, but if you thought for a second that what’s come so far is barely a fraction of the awesomeness then you have a lot to look forward to. “Toxic” hits like a bomb blast with the dual vocal attack of Sasha Razumova and Andrey Borzykin on the frontlines and an infectious sound that’s filled with the best parts of Lacuna Coil, Shiny Toy Guns, Evanescence (Circa Fallen) and Linkin Park (The first three records at least) rolled into one as gorgeous harmonies, gargantuan walls of sound, glistening synths and crushing choruses flourish.

“Voices” is beats heavy for a spell before a big noise becomes embroiled with an especially catchy chorus with “You’ll Never Know” giving off those Lacuna Coil vibes next. “No Fear” is dense and dark and dwells in a more synthetic realm for a spell, “Overcome” just owns and is a boisterous, badass single lifting off with that hypnotic chorus at the forefront, and “Victim” is another previously released beastie that’s sure to get your heads banging and feets stomping.

“Lunacy” is intricate and heavy as hell with a wall of riffs matching the glistening synths as “The Flood” follows suit and then “What A Time” is a piano-driven anthem that still manages to keep the momentum up despite being this deep into the record. “All For None” marks a tonal shift as does “Losing Battles” and then “Dead” is such and amazing track, led by Razumova, that’s like Industrial-tinged Pop with its’ harder edges. Getting close to the initial end, “Staged” is a larger than life penultimate punchy number that’s another in a long line of tracks that just compel listeners to scream along whereas “Married” ends our regular portion of The Pain That Makes Us Grow on a somber note delivering powerful prose before the curtain closes.

Well, wouldja look at that! We covered the main 14! Oops? Sorry not sorry. Guess it just goes to show how nicely The Pain That Makes Us Grow flows despite its’ size. You’ll be at the end of it before you know it and still waiting for more to come.

The Pain That Makes Us Grow is out now and you can get your copy in a VARIETY of options (Seriously, there are so many cool versions) when you head here. If DSP’s are your thang then MM has got you covered there as well with the record available here, here, here or at the stream below.
