Singles! EYE AM, “Dreams Always Die With The Sun”

26 May 2023 By jesse 2 Comments

The only complaint we have about the debut single from supergroup EYE AM is this: Why did no one in either party think to do this before??? Featuring Type O Negative’s guitarist/vocalist Kenny Hickey and drummer Johnny Kelly with Crowbar’s vocalist/guitarist Kirk Windstein and former Crowbar and Down bassist Todd Strange, EYE AM is ready to set the music world ablaze with their inspired modern Doom that also takes turns visiting a time when the term “Heavy Metal” was on the rise and “Shock Rock” had yet to be defined for a Black Sabbath meets Iron Butterfly meets Alice Cooper hybrid that surprisingly sounds nothing like anything the sum of EYE AM’s parts are known for.

Yet the debut track in question from EYE AM is still EVERYTHING you’d expect it to be and more. Bringing some Doom? Yep! The Gloom? Yep! Those Silvertomb/Seventh Void ’70’s psychedelic Rawk vibes? Big yep! Sound exquisite when combined? Hells yup! For “Dreams Always Die With The Sun”, Hickey is at the vocal helm (For this track at least) with his swooning snarl while Windstein’s uncanny pipes come out from behind the back up harmony fog towards song’s end like a heavenly beast. Riff-wise, the debut EYE AM track is a perfect amalgamation of both Windstein and Hickey’s definitive styles (Especially if you consider Hickey’s post-TON product and Windstein’s recent solo outing) while Strange and Kelly make their own perfect pair to form this riotous rhythmic monster together.

“Dreams Always Die With The Sun” arrives through Corpse Paint Records on June 2nd. Pre-orders are available now and can be checked out by heading here. For the latest news from EYE AM, follow them across the information superhighway by heading here or here.
