Following surprise debut single “Roadrunner Vs. Your Mother” late in 2023, The Magic City (The Daily Pravda, Graveyard of the Atlantic, etc.) is poised to deliver another unexpected turn with “A Series Of Chemicals” which manages to peel back a few more layers of that, ahem, magic the Boston-based quartet make together.
Cut from the same cloth for sure but more suited for fans of Rivers Cuomo over the Charles River crowd (Read: Hatch Shell), this mega-Alternative anthem is immediate and unmistakably The Magic City with that lively bass boom from Mike Quinn, the ferocious fervor that Ken Marcou exhibits from behind the kit, subdued yet screaming wails from Adam Anderson’s lead guitar, and David Jackel’s rhythm guitars and backing vox acting to fill in any unspoken sonic gaps while Quinn’s sugary sweet vocal delivery glazes over it all.
“A Series of Chemicals” arrives on February 23rd and you can get yer pre-save on and more by heading here. For more from The Magic City, including more info on their upcoming show at The Cantab on March 1st, follow the trail of socials when you click here, here, or here.
