Singles! Wayward Vine, “Dancing On Your Basement Floor”

We’re allowed to have favorites, right? It’s a blog sooooo… yeah??? Anyway! We’ve been living with A LOT of Wayward Vine music coming close to a year now, have been privileged enough to cover quite a bit of their music in the lead up to their upcoming full-length, and think it’s safe to say that the latest single called “Dancing On Your Basement Floor” is our most favorite Wayward Vine song to date.

Which is a feat unto itself! Because, you see, their last single “End of May” (Shockingly released in June. But on the 6th. So kinda the end of May) was our most favorite to date up until that point. Which just barely took the top spot from previous single “Implode” that was our most favorite up ’til THAT point. Which, if our math is mathing correctly, would mean that the next WV single will be our most favorite following “Dancing On Your Basement Floor”?!?!? See where we’re going with all of this?

That said, the album that’s on the way (The Fall, due on September 19th) is lining up to be a stellar array of diverse aural tales that could only be pulled off by Wayward Vine’s troupe of talented musicians. There’s a glistening/shimmering quality to each WV jam regardless of if the content is somber and serious, fun and fancy free or in full on Americana storytelling mode. But back to “Dancing On Your Basement Floor”! The vocal harmonies between Greg Lawrence and Valerie Rachel have never been tighter or more exquisitely interconnected amidst this lush soundscape created by the duo along with Jim St. Pierre (Percussion), Yoni Gordon (Electric Guitar) and Jose Downes (Bass) who fluidly move throughout a story detailing the pro’s and con’s of NRE (“New Relationship Energy”).

“Dancing On Your Basement Floor” is out on August 22nd ahead of Wayward Vine’s aforementioned debut full-length The Fall (Again, due September 19th). For all the pre-order/pre-save info for both the single and upcoming album plus the latest WV news regarding shows and more, head here.
