This is going to be one of those reviews where we try not to be so wordy but end up with a novel on our hands so we’d like to offer our sincere apologies in advance for what you’re about to read. But not really because what filmmaker Dave Habeeb has created with Beautiful Was The Fight is a brilliant look at the Boston Music Scene through the eyes of the mighty women who have struggled, shined, and worked to ensure a more progressive and inclusive atmosphere for the next generation.

Sometimes when choosing to review almost every single ahead of an incoming EP/LP can present a problem down the road when the actual album is ready to drop. For one thing, how does it all fit in? Will those songs only stand out because they’re “the singles”? Or will the release sound disjointed when filled with songs already out to the masses which could potentially swallow up what’s in between those tentpoles? Luckily, when it comes to Boston’s Paper Tigers, though, that whole argument/point is moot as the strength of each and every song on debut release Charmer stands out regardless of if it was released previously. And together, they make for one unstoppable record.
