They just don’t make Rawk like this anymore. It’s true! This kind of supercharged fit-for-a-stadium anthem is just not the lay of the land in today’s musical climate which is why it’s so refreshing to hear something like The Peppermint Kicks’ “Radio Wam Bam Boom” getting ready to cause a new school ruckus on our collective earholes. But in a good way!
Infused with the spirit of the radio this time around, the duo of Dan Kopko (Guitars, bass, vocals) and Sal Baglio (Guitars, piano, vocals) are back at it following their 2021 debut LP with a rollicking aude (Aural + Ode, get it?) to all things airwaves with help from Kevin Rapillo on drums as well as The Underground Garage’s Palmyra Delran as the resident DJ across the track. The glam and grandeur of Gary Glitter (Think “Rock ‘n’ Roll (Part 2)” not the other stuff) and T. Rex put through a Garage Rawk filter, “Radio Wam Bam Boom” begins with a thunderous thumping out of Rapillo followed by Baglio and Kopko trading verses, bars, and licks as Delran serves as an honorary emcee to make The Peppermint Kicks’ newest single one for the ages!
“Radio Wam Bam Boom” arrives on June 13th through Rum Bar Records and you can pre-save your very own copy now by heading here.
