What. A. Single. To return to.
The next level of Paper Tigers excellence is almost here beginning with “Go Out” which is not only the first bit of new music from the Boston duo? Trio? We’ll get to that in a few…. but also the first bit of new music off PT’s BRAND NEW ALBUM called East Coaster that’s comin’ at you sooner over later (Like, try next month! Again, more on that later).
Anyway!
“Go Out” is Paper Tigers scaled back but also bulked up if that makes sense. There’s less people creating the music now but the song sounds gigantic with the band’s new, refined lineup. What Michael Medlock (Vocals), Bjarki Guðmundsson (Guitar/Programming) and Matthew Hughes (Bass) have on their hands with not only “Go Out” but the whole of East Coaster (We may have heard it a few times already…) is phenomenal. And still sounds like Paper Tigers! If you liked the band before then you’re in for a treat. And If you didn’t like the band before… well, you’re just missing out but if you are coming from that side then we think you might be looking at your new favorite band.
Fuzzy and beats-driven and still playing in the Alt Rawk sandbox yet still serene and soothing especially when you get to the wondrous chorus and vocal harmonies shared between Medlock and Don’t Tell Iris’ Olivia Beatrice Martinez that’s almost a non-chorus as it’s so subtle. Not so subtle, however, is the breakdown with Martinez and Medlock’s voices intertwining again as Guðmundsson’s wild guitar lines herald this next stage in the Paper Tigers evolution… that nicely bleeds into “Keep A Light On, Just For Me”. But we’ll get to the rest of East Coaster later.
“Go Out” is, ahem, out on July 24th and you can get ready now by heading here and doing all the pre-savin’ that’s the rage these days!
