The Joy Thieves Assemble An Army Of Greats For Post-Punk Heist Of The Century On American Parasite

21 July 2021 By jesse Leave a Comment

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: The best kinds of albums are the ones you weren’t expecting. Sure, I’m aware that the Industrial juggernaut known as The Joy Thieves is out there making killer tunes but legitimately had no clue that not only was a proper full-length on the way but that it features the legendary vocalist (And frequent collaborator/Joy Thief) Chris Connelly on ALL 15 tracks. And let’s be honest here, who else is more suited to act as the maniacal ringleader over a veritable army of musicians who have collectively backed such diverse vocalists as David Bowie, Henry Rollins, Iggy Pop, Jaz Coleman, Al Jourgensen at one point in time?

Black Sugar Transmission Close Out Thrilling Trilogy With Killer Coda Dream Finisher

16 October 2020 By jesse Leave a Comment

Andee Blacksugar’s Return Of The King, his Godfather Part III…his Dark Knight Rises even! If you’re picking up what I’m throwing down then you get that we’re at the final part of a trilogy and like many a third in a cinematic tale, what fans are getting is something really freakin’ epic.

Black Sugar Transmission Ambitiously Begin The New Decade With Wandering Into The Bullseye, First Of Three Planned Releases In 2020

24 January 2020 By jesse Leave a Comment

If you were to take the experimental aesthetic of Duran Duran’s much maligned yet highly underrated Medazzaland and combine it with a current artist like Julien-K you might have an inkling of an idea of what to expect when traversing the New Wave meets Electro world of Black Sugar Transmission. The brainchild of Andee Blacksugar (KMFDM, Peter Murphy), Black Sugar Transmission return with the first of THREE planned releases this year and if the rest sound anything at all like Wandering Into The Bullseye does then music fans are in for quite the sonic treat in 2020.

KMFDM Herald In A New PARADISE On Latest (And Greatest) Slab Of Industrial Ecstasy

25 September 2019 By jesse Leave a Comment

KMFDM is back. Again. But why should you care? Because the Godfathers of Industrial consistently deliver the Ultra Heavy Beat and on PARADISE, their 21st album which celebrates their 35th year as a collective, they’re offering up their most diverse and, quite possibly, their best record of the 21st Century.

Raymond Watts: A Rock And Roll Fables Conversation

4 August 2017 By jesse Leave a Comment

Raymond Watts is a living legend. He is. Whether he’s taking it all on with <PIG> or collaborating with KMFDM or Alexander McQueen, Watts is genuinely a prolific creator. Like fellow Industrial Metal luminaries Paul Barker and Chris Connelly, he is also a man not bound by the rules of the genre. Quite frankly, the man likes to branch out! The proof is in the pudding and, in this case, flows across a plethora of sonic excursions released within a year of the first <PIG> full-length in over a decade.

And the Lord of Lard himself explained how exactly that comeback happened recently via phone: [Read more…]

KMFDM Return Refreshed With Incendiary HELL YEAH

27 July 2017 By jesse Leave a Comment

Any year KMFDM produces a new LP tends to be a good year for Industrial music. I mean look at this year so far: 3TEETH, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, 16Volt, and Ohgr (who’ll be sharing a stage with KMFDM on tour this Fall) alone all have released something or have new music in the pipeline. Hell, KMFDM put out an EP in addition to this upcoming LP already! [Read more…]

PIG Continue Comeback Victory Lap With Prey & Obey EP

7 June 2017 By jesse 1 Comment

Oh my! If you were underwhelmed by last year’s comeback and the accompanying Remix album (Released earlier this year) then the Lord of Lard has something that will guarantee your return to the flock. But let’s be honest, if you weren’t impressed with those two slabs of finely constructed (and deconstructed) Industrial malevolence then were you ever really in the flock??? [Read more…]

PIG Returns And Brings The Gospel To The Masses. Sinners Rejoice!

Take a dab of Depeche Mode’s Violator, a smidge of Marilyn Manson’s The Pale Emperor, a little of Nick Cave’s “Red Right Hand” and….you know what? Forget that! <PIG> is only comparable to <PIG> and the latest from the Lord of the Lard is no exception and certainly an album that stands on its own within the upper echelon of rawk. [Read more…]

Skold Delivers The Industrial Goods With Latest Album The Undoing

25 April 2016 By jesse Leave a Comment

Two of my fondest concert going experiences are seeing KMFDM touring behind Symbols in 1997 and Marilyn Manson supporting The Golden Age Of Grotesque in 2003. While both shows were memorable for several different reasons, the one common factor for both was a certain bass player named Tim Skold. Collaborator, co-conspirator, and partner to some of the greats in the past, Skold is finally back to prove how potent he is once again as a solo artist. Sascha Konietzko: A Rock And Roll Fables Conversation

Time flies when you’re having fun or in the case of KMFDM’s founder, Sascha Konietzko, when you’re prolifically creating new music. He elaborated on the topic recently via phone:

“Well, it’s just something I can’t help. When I wake up in the morning I go in my studio, and unless I have chores to do,  I just sort of work on stuff that comes to my mind. I feel more inspired these days than I did when I began making music.”  [Read more…]
