Bones UK Hit The Road Again, Drop Unplugged EP

It is imperative for those of you attending any upcoming Breaking Benjamin and Korn show to arrive in time to see opener Bones UK who is guaranteed to rawk your socks off. That said, you should probably bring an extra pair of socks to the show. Unless they sell socks at the merch booth in which case you can just buy some there.

But I digress.

Hot off a stellar 2019 which included the release of their phenomenal debut (Read our praise here) as well as non-stop touring around the world, Bones UK return with a short and sweet reminder of why this duo is such a potent sonic force….by stripping it all down to the bare, ahem, bones.

It’s almost fitting when you hear the Middle Eastern-twinged version of “Beautiful Is Boring” on Unplugged and consider that Bones UK will soon be hitting the road alongside Jonathan Davis whose own solo outings share a similar penchant for the worldly flair. But beyond that, don’t expect Rosie Bones screaming “Are you ready???” at all during the EP. What you can expect are even more lush arrangements (“Beautiful Is Boring” itself is almost doubled in length here) providing greater depth and a greater case as to why Bones UK should be your new favorite band.

Other stand out singles from Bones UK are still very recognizable within the confines of this setting like “Pretty Waste” which still has Rosie Bones’ pointed refrains which seem more pointed especially with Romani-flavored strings and percussion accompanying. “Black Blood” is all folksy showcasing Carmen Vandenberg’s guitar work while “Filthy Freaks” is even more sexy as the subtle acoustic flourishes coupled with the string arrangements serve to accent Rosie Bones as she yearns: “All the filthy freaks and the glamorous geeks, come on! You’re a fucking piece of art, and I need some peace, come on!”

“Souls” rounds out this collection and is absolutely magical, reminiscent of Stevie Nicks’ mystical breakthrough records of the early ’80’s (Bella Donna and The Wild Heart, in particular), serving to temporarily satiate fans’ fervent thirst for more Bones UK.

Unplugged releases through Sumerian Records on January 24th (Just in time for Bones UK to hit the road once again as main support for Korn and Breaking Benjamin).
