There’s a few local outfits out there currently with sophomore albums in the works that we’re REALLY looking forward to. One of them is Sunday Junkie who put out their beyond solid self-titled debut barely a year ago now and, by the sounds of new single “Kerosene”, show no signs of succumbing to the dreaded “sophomore slump”!
Starting off all unsuspecting-like with Vocalist/Guitarist/Bassist Tom Martin’s restrained delivery across all instruments before expanding into this humongous thing with Shawn Pelkey’s explosive drumming really coming to life then once again reverting back to the opening vibes, “Kerosene” presents a continuous cycle of vibrant (And even a little vicious at times) modern Alternative that’s even got some bite infused into its’ kickass chorus. Most importantly, though, “Kerosene” shows that Sunday Junkie have only upped their game in terms of performance and songwriting on the road to album number two!
