We will never say “No!” to adding some new Rawk to the accumulated oeuvre that takes up so much digital space across multiple devices in the RNRF offices. And what’s that? New Rawk that’s local to boot?!? Sign. Us. Up. Especially when it comes in the form of The World Tour Is Ruined from Boston’s Pleasure Wheel!

There’s so many different flavors to consume across the four tracks that comprise The World Tour Is Ruined with elements of Alternative and Grunge all apparent beginning with irresistible opener “Come Out to Play” presenting a flurry of sound and a whirlwind of sonic supremacy that has airs of Sonic Youth, The Kills and Metric (Particularly in the world of Scott Pilgrim) with Casey Sullivan’s commanding cadences lighting the way through the instrumental ruckus brought about by Sullivan’s bass, Keith Shorey’s guitars and Mike Forgione’s drums. “Space Junk” immediately flips the script with Shorey tackling lead vox on an appropriately out-of-this-world jam that sounds heavily influenced by ’70’s psychedelia and ’90’s Alternative (Think Lou Barlow-related outfits like Dinosaur Jr and Folk Implosion).

“World’s #1” is a warm and fuzzed out driving ditty with a particularly glistening delivery from Sullivan before ending like some throwback New Wave Of British Heavy Metal with the riffage (Think Spinal Tap meets Iron Maiden) which bleed nicely into the Black Sabbitch-like “Psychic Sea” that enters with some HEFT that dives back into those ’70’s sounds but with greater grooves out of Sullivan and Forgione with Shorey speaking through the guitar with the shreds, solos, and sonic soliloquy’s.
