The collected genres of modern Industrial/Electronic/Noise (And probably more) is in good hands with artists like PUREST FORM at the frontlines. If the back to back blast of aural power from the two EP’s released in 2024 wasn’t enough convincing of that fact then the upcoming RESISTANCE release is sure to get the point across!
Kickstarted by “ANIMAL”, RESISTANCE is off to the races with a blistering, beats-driven beauty of a track that takes everything that PUREST FORM accomplished on their last releases to the next level. Vocalist Story Beeson sounds as vicious as ever with a crushing cadence across this one while “BREAK” experiments in a Jungle/DnB hybrid playground exquisitely crafted by Guitarist/Programmer Madi Woodward. Next, “BEYOND TERROR” is ominous, relying on a slower stance that is a little like Godflesh especially with the way Bassist Riley Oikawa-Dahlson rumbles out some musical menace before a faster paced Punk/Hardcore style ends the track.
Newest single, “MORE” sounds straight out of Letterkenny… wait, what??? Hear us out! First of all, the music choices for that show are phenomenal and secondly, and with that in mind, go listen to any number of Keys N Krates tracks used over the course of Letterkenny‘s lifespan and tell us we’re wrong. “BASS RESISTANCE” follows suit in a similar tone but is also a modern fusion of Atari Teenage Riot and Apartment 26 (Look them up!). And yes, the “BREATHE” that ends RESISTANCE is that “BREATHE”. That said, we’re happy to report that it’s also a pretty kick ass rendition with Beeson sounding positively profound and with purpose during a session that tackles both the iconic performances originally uttered by Maxim Reality and the late Keith Flint on The Prodigy OG banger.
