We were late to Osis’ brand of OC/DC Punk Rawk but their debut EP, released in August of 2025, made such an impact after we reviewed it in January of this year that we made a mental note to include the self-titled EP in our upcoming year ender post. However, if we were a stickler about a release needing to be released in the same year as the year we’re rounding up then we are in luck because Boston’s Osis recently dropped their second EP (The aptly titled Osis II) which came out of nowhere (For us) and slapped us in the face with a brand new collection of concentrated New-School-but-sounds-like-Old-School Punk Rawk jams!
“Bossman” is unassuming to start, easing your collective earholes into a sense of security before the “Gauntlet” is thrown on a noisy, frenetic freak out led by Vocalist K Ghoulish and features all the sick shreds and solos out of Guitarist Jordan Green. “Opus” is like Bleach era Nirvana mixed with Helmet circa Born Annoying at its’ onset while “Peace Song” is dense modern Post-Hardcore. “Theosis” is celebratory right out the gate with Green’s Guitar wails and a rippin’ rhythm section performance out of Bassist Tom Scanlon and Drummer Kevin Reddall as Ghoulish parades around a plethora of Vocal styles throughout the course of the song.
“Good Job” is steady, shreddy and rumbling while also glistening from added sonic textures, “TV Rainbow” is built off fierce stop/start Vocal passages from Ghoulish before spiraling into a gnarly Punk Rawk romp and finale “It’s a Joke” could be mistaken for a Killing Joke classic if that legendary Post-Punk outfit ever really experimented with Psych Rawk during their beginnings.
