Riding high off most recent release The Jaguar, the Raven & the Snake (Which dropped in May), Vermont’s Dwight + Nicole is set to electrify In Between Days when they open up the IBD stage on Day 2 of the 2-Day extravaganza happening on August 19th & 20th over at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy!
Speaking of their most recent release, The Jaguar, the Raven & the Snake, we can’t really think of a better way to get acquainted with D+N ahead of their upcoming set for those uninitiated than the gorgeous collection of modern Soul meets Blues hybrid conjured up within.
“The Next Go-Round” begins with a warm, inviting sonic hum before Nicole Nelson’s lush voice opens up the track and Dwight Richter’s bluesy pickin’ elevates it all even more. “You And I” is Prince-like with Nicole channeling the great one in her delivery as Dwight answers back in the most beautiful way, “It’s Up To You” is grand with big horn sounds reminiscent of fellow New Englanders Morphine and particularly Dana Colley’s iconic sax sounds, and “Angel” has airs of Journey’s classic “When The Lights Go Down In The City” but then travels off into a profoundly ethereal realm. Elsewhere, “You Better Stop” is a jammin’, groovy number with big start/stop beats courtesy of Ezra Oklan surrounded by glistening keys and these swirling jazzy guitars for an all-genre encompassing number and later on,”Lift” closes up shop with an uplifting, celebratory finale that is surely a spectacle to behold live.
And while we said It’s true that the latest album is your best bet to serve as the ultimate preview ahead of IBD, you really can’t go wrong with any of the soulful soliloquies that D+N have to offer on their Bandcamp which are conveniently located right here.
