While it’s fantastic to get exposed to a great number of filmmakers (Upcoming & established) submitting their films at any given Salem Horror Fest, one of the coolest aspects for the attendees is the chance to get a look at some of their homegrown talent on a big screen through the festival’s “Local Mass Hysteria” series and, unsurprisingly, Volume 8’s lineup is no slouch in that department especially with stand outs like Day Dreams from Michael Perik and Olivia White!
Described as “An experimental nightmare shot on 16mm Ektachrome”, Day Dreams is just that featuring subtle performances from Alexis Ricci and Abby Kesselman that say so much without actually saying anything (There’s barely any dialogue throughout). Haunting, picturesque, and even gruesome at times, Day Dreams is an expressive Horror short taking the viewer into an ominous new world with flashes of the past that’ll keep audiences guessing what’s to come until the very end.
Day Dreams just had its’ World Premiere during “Night Zero” of Salem Horror Fest 8. For more information on Day Dreams, including info on all upcoming screenings, head here.
