Siamese Return With A Fire, Deliver Equally Genre-Defying/Career-Defining Full-Length With dissolution

Modern Metacore is such a weird bag. The genre has evolved so much beyond what it once was, incorporating so much more than what the sub-genre name is derived from with recent bands like sace6, Wind Walkers and even Bad Omens embodying a sound that takes Metalcore into interesting, and sometimes more accessible, new places. Another in that list, Denmark’s Siamese, is on the cutting edge of that trend with a new record on the horizon that has the big riffs, even bigger hooks and a heightened hybrid style that’s already taking modern Metalcore to the next level (And that is also the last time we will mention “Metalcore” in this review.)

Anyway!

The opening tracks/lead singles “dark” and “drown” are perfectly fine to give listeners a feel of what’s to come but, make no mistake, those are just a slight taste of the massive sound that Siamese brings. We perked up the instant “sense” began with a larger than life presence and a wall of guitars from Christian Lauritzen (Who also brings the Violin to life throughout the new record) before “alone” enters the fray with an earnest earworm thanks in part to Vocalist Mirza Radonjica’s serene croon.

“friends” is another that’ll come on and, if you weren’t paying attention previously (Honestly, though, dissolution is enthralling from start to finish), will demand your attention instantly. From the moment Radonjica’s catchy cadence comes on surrounded by a synthetic atmosphere coupled with Joakim Stilling’s beats and Marc Nommesen’s rumblings on the bass the song is straight fire. And that’s before Lauritzen’s Violin almost steals the show leading into a grand breakdown to wrap up the track.

“sinner” gets REAL Heavy real quick with some vocals out of Radonjica to match interspersed with these Electronic-tinged clean verses to top off this delightful sonic dichotomy while “dissolution” is more straightforward in that it just goes hard with the crushing vibes right away until settling into an entrancing Electro-laden body. “patterns” boasts a bouncy chorus ripe for dance/sing-a-long moments, “nevermore” is a blistering Stilling/Nommesen-driven rhythmic beast with some epic vocal moments and “reveries” feature some more Siamese contemporaries as Caskets stop by for this sweeping shredder that moves like a lumbering giant. “reaper” sets the stage for the inevitable end with a mid-tempo banger that leads into the burgeoning bombast of “twisted” which plays out like some Boy Band Nu-Metal and we’re here for it.

dissolution is out on June 26th through Long Branch Records and you can find the copy that suits you best ahead of the release date by heading here or to the stream below. For more from Siamese, including upcoming live dates, hit the interwebs and their socials by clicking here, here or here.
