Time to get a little LOUD on the Knyvet Network! Okay, a lot loud as easily the loudest band on the Knyvet roster right now is here with a unique sound and a unique story from definitely one of the most original Heavy acts in MA right now. Enter: AlphaSix.

In a world where the debate about man vs machine and the war against AI rages on the daily comes this MA-based outfit who’s embracing the platform with their unofficial 4th member “The AI AlphaSix” who acts as the band’s own Nostradamas delivering, as the band describe, “cryptic prophecies of the impending world assimilation, which is the inspiration behind our work”.

Is it part of the illustrious, vivid storyline that AlphaSix has created? Did they go full Fear Factory but didn’t let real life drama bog down the ART? For right now, we don’t care because what AlphaSix is building on “Orphan! Tether to the Mother” (And last year’s Perennial Reign EP) is something to behold.

That something is the first taste of the upcoming Assimilate: Oceans album called “Orphan! Tether to the Mother” and there’s a LOT happening in this almost four and a half minute Metal Monster. A lot of bands come to mind when listening through AlphaSix’s latest but not one manages to capture all of what the trio made up of Steven Nash (vocals, lead guitar, other instruments), Matt Hughes (vocals, guitar, bass, other instruments), and Zach Hughes (vocals, production, mixing, sound design) bring about on their newest release.

There’s parts of that frenetic mayhem that Nekroboblikon do on the regular as well as Atari Teenage Riot’s incendiary Electronic cacophony along with the hybrid Drum And Bass meets Metal sound that Apartment 26 successfully delivered back in the day. But at its’ core is the vocal hydra of Hughes, Hughes, and Nash (Plus the aforementioned “The AI AlphaSix”) bringing slicing shreds to old school Hardcore breakdowns with some Djent riffage, gnarly soloing, and sporadic accentuated pummeling beats topping it all off for a sound that almost follows the “throw it at the wall and see what sticks” mentality except that what AlphaSix has thrown at the wall (Read: our earholes???) definitely all sticks.

“Orphan! Tether to the Mother” is out on March 29th ahead of full-length Assimilate: Oceans arriving later in 2024. For now you can pre-save the new single when you head here and for the rest of the AlphaSix socials head here, here, or here.

  1. Thanks for the writing, AlphaSix is the dark side of my music writing style, which is in contrast to the other band you’ve written about (that I play bass for), which is Paper Tigers. -Matt
