Singles! BAIT, “My Tribe”

It’s so funny to me that a regular annual column for a blog I used to write for (“I Read AP’s 100 Bands You Need To Know In ____ So You Don’t Have To” over on Pop!Blerd which you can read here) over 10 years ago led me to Baddies which led me to Michael Webster which led to BAIT (And eventually Cool Thing Records who have yet to disappoint in the new music department). Life’s funny that way.

Also funny is just about finalizing our recently posted 2022 list when we get the news of new BAIT music coming fairly early in this here new year and having to amend the last few spots on our list because of that fact. But so far, BAIT in 2022 is delivering! First single “DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA” was meant to be an incendiary refresher course, “My Tribe” is meant to keep those hooks in before full-length Sea Change arrives in early Spring.

A pandemic-fueled anxiety-laden ditty that’s all about family and protecting your own, “My Tribe” manages to capture a feeling of what many felt during the onset of the ongoing global nightmare and just looking into the unknown with this overall sense of hopelessness. Synonymous with most BAIT tracks to date, “My Tribe” is immediate and in-your-face with Michael Webster’s words propelled into our collective earholes like a space shuttle on that initial G-fueled liftoff as a slightly more Groove-driven soundtrack hums and pulsates around leading to an ominous synth-heavy conclusion.

“My Tribe” drops on February 18th through Cool Thing Records with the Sea Change full-length following on April 1st. For all the appropriate links to where you can hear “My Tribe” the instant it drops as well as pre-order links to Sea Change, head here!
