Singles! BLAB, “Insurance”

One mark of a great artist in this reviewer’s mind is when you see their name listed somewhere, whether it’s in passing on a streaming site or a random social media post or press release, and a song of theirs immediately comes to mind. Just by seeing that moniker in print somewhere. BLAB is that kind of artist making the kinds of songs that are instantly recognizable as their own and, better still, hard to forget.

With Frances Murray’s latest slab of BLAB, the Southend-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist follows three diverse singles thus far, and offers another heady head scratcher that seamlessly fits into the sonic tapestry steadily being woven by Murray. There’s a little Lady Sovereign swagger in the vocal ebb and flow as well as some Mira Aroyo-fronted Ladytron on “Insurance” which is big on Electro and a far cry from the Rawk anthem that was previous single “Eton Mess”. But it works. Because BLAB makes music for the people. And the people want diversity.

“Insurance” arrives on August 20th via Cool Thing Records. Pre-save yours now by heading here or head here to get your digital dl fix on. For more on BLAB, check out the socials when you click here, here, or here.
